KATHMANDU, July 27: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) has urged all concerned parties to immediately stop the sale and distribution of goods banned by the Government of Nepal, saying it has received complaints that such products are being sold through both physical stores and digital platforms.
In a notice issued on Monday, the DoCSCP said it had taken serious note of reports that goods whose import or export has been fully or partially banned under the Export and Import (Control) Act, 1957 are still being traded in the market.

According to the notice, the government imposed restrictions on the import and export of certain goods through notifications published in the Nepal Gazette on various dates, including June 16, 2019, and April 6, 2020.
The DoCSCP warned that the unauthorized import, storage and sale of banned goods are punishable by law. It urged importers, stockists and retailers to comply fully with all legal obligations, conditions and restrictions while conducting business.
It also said anyone found trading banned goods in violation of the law will face action under the Export and Import (Control) Act, 1957, the Consumer Protection Act, 2018, and other applicable laws.
