KATHMANDU, April 2: The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), water supply authority in Kathmandu Valley, has begun distributing Melamchi water at Balaju area in Kathmandu starting Friday.
The drinking water was supplied in the area from 5:00am this morning.
According to the Chief Executive Officer at KUKL, Milan Shakya , the drinking water is being distributed at Nayabazar, Sorakhutte and Balaju area of Kathmandu.
For Sustainable Supply of Melamchi Water to Valley
Among the reservoir tanks built in the valley for Melamchi Drinking Water distribution, only a reservoir tank based in the Bansbari area is left to be supplied with the Melamchi water.
Meanwhile, the KUKL is expanding the area for the supply of Melamchi water in the valley.
For the first phase, 40 million liters of water was supplied per day to Kathmandu Valley from the source which has now been increased to 85 million liters per day.
With the completion of the much-awaited Melamchi Drinking Water Project, the KUKL has successfully distributed the water in the various areas of the valley since a few days ago.
