NAGARKOT, Mar 28: The dispute of Changunarayan Community Forest, taking place for the past 22 years, has been settled after signing six-point agreement.
The Natural Resources Conflict Transformation Centre at the request of Users' Group settled the dispute regarding management and operation of picnic spot running at the community forest at one-and-half years efforts.
Two-decade-long dispute settled in two days!
As per the agreement, a joint meeting of the stakeholders would make final decision regarding the operation and management of picnic spot run inside the community forest.
Similarly, consensus was forged to mapping the area and border of the forest through GPS system, said Users' Group Chairperson, Bal Bahadur Shrestha.
National Resource Person of the Natural Resource Conflict Transformation Centre, Mina Shrestha, said that they reached to the understanding after holding discussions and meetings more than 200 times.
The Users' Group had filed the petition at the Centre on April 20, 2016 seeking the solution of the different disputes related to the forest. RSS
