Dispute in Jhapa after exchange of ballot papers

BIRATNAGAR, Nov 20: A dispute has arisen at a polling station based at Shishu Sudhar Basic School in Buddha Shanti Rural Municipality-3 of Jhapa district.

BIRATNAGAR, Nov 20: A dispute has arisen at a polling station based at Shishu Sudhar Basic School in Buddha Shanti Rural Municipality-3 of Jhapa district.


Chief District Officer of Jhapa, Chabi Lal Rijal, said that the dispute erupted over the faulty placement of ballot papers in ballot boxes. According to CDO Rijal, the ballot papers that were supposed to be dropped in one box were dropped in another box resulting in the dispute.

CDO Rijal said that discussions are being held to settle the dispute. He, however, made it clear that the voting process has not been halted and said that efforts are being made to resolve the dispute through discussion. 


He added that 50 percent voting has been completed at the polling station as of 2:00 pm. The chief district officer said that voting is underway peacefully in Jhapa.
