KATHMANDU, Dec 9: Election commission has started holding discussions on the upcoming elections to be held to pick the new members of the National Assembly.
A total of 19 posts in the National Assembly will fall vacant from March 3. Hence, the Election Commission has begun the discussion for electing the new members.
Speaking in the meeting, Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya informed that they got the letter from the Federal Parliament and the elections for 18 posts are going to be conducted.
"For the remaining one post, the president will appoint as recommended by the government," he added.
Addressing the meeting, Minister for Foreign Minister Pradip Kumar Gyawali said that the government will decide on the date of election as per the suggestions made by Election Commission.
