Discussion on reducing power crisis held

KATHMANDU, Nov 4: Senior engineer of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and energy experts held a discussion on reducing power crisis in the country at Osho Tapoban on Sunday.



The group discussed on probability of plantation of solar energy panels on the bank of Bagmati river and also pointed out that solar energy can be an alternative to present power crisis. [break]



Swami Ananda Arun stressed high-level talks to create a favorable environment for investment from Non Resident Nepalis (NRN) in hydropower sectors.



1 MW hydropower should also be provided the government aid as 100 KW hydropower projects and the government should permit construction of big business complexes after planting solar energy panel as an alternative power source, he added.



The discussion also concluded to reduce power leakage to 3 percent.



Secretary of Ministry of Energy Hari Ram Koirala, NEA Acting Director Mahendra Lal Shrestha and former minister Hisila Yami, along with others, were also present in the program.
