The Boeing 737-800 of Arkey Fly operated by Tuy Holland International landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport at 2:30 p.m. with 180 passengers on board.

"Now onward, there will be a direct flight from Kathmandu to Europe every Monday," officials told myrepublica.com.

Senior officials at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) were present at the Tribhuvan International Airport to welcome the first flight.

Officiating secretary of the ministry, Ranjan Aryal, Acting Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Ram Prasad Neupane and Acting CEO of Nepal Tourism Board Subhas Niraula, among other officials, welcomed the passengers and the crew members.

This will significantly help make the Nepal Tourism Year 2011 a grand success, the officials said.

Martin Air and Transavia, both from the Netherlands, used to fly in the sector in the past.
