“The Missions of the European Union based in Kathmandu together with the Missions of Norway and Switzerland strongly condemn the recent attack on Dalits at Pipariya VDC of Rautahat, in regard to their use of a temple,” reads the statement.
After the promulgation of the Caste-based Discrimination and Untouchability (offence and punishment) Act in May 2011, this event is a stark reminder that much effort is still needed to overcome the scourge of untouchability and identity-based discrimination, the statement said.
