KATHMANDU, Dec 31:Nepal Police has formed a five-member probe committee under the coordination of Deputy Inspector General, Puja Singh, to investigate the rape and subsequent murder of a 13-year-old Niramala Pant.
Central Spokesperson of the Nepal Police, Tek Prasad Rai, shared that the committee is headed by DIG Puja Singh, who is currently working at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). She was deputed in the previous investigation in the murder of Nirmala Panta’s case.
Nirmala murder case remains a mystery even after five years
The committee formed at the directive of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane comprises Superintendent of Police Kamal Thapa, Inspector Dhirendra Rokaya and a medical doctor as well. They have been mandated to initiate the investigation process in a new way.
On the very day Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane assumed the office, he had informed that he would make utmost efforts to provide justice in Nirmala Panta, who was allegedly murdered after rape in 2075 BS.
