'Diet, kits insufficient for training'

KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Coaches of weightlifting and karate team undergoing special first phase training for the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) and London Olympic 2012 have complained of insufficient diet.



Weight lifting coach and Olympian Sunil Joshi informed National Sports Council Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama that diet provided for weightlifting players was inadequate and urged him to make proper diet arrangements.[break]



Similarly, karate coach Deepak Shrestha complained that karate players have been facing scarcity of kits during the training.



Similarly, athletics, taekwondo, boxing, judo and wushu coaches and players also expressed their concerns. Speaking on the occasion, Lama assured the players and coaches that the latter´s concerns would be addressed.



Suntol, Indrayani A into semifinal



Suntol and Indrayani A on Wednesday advanced into the semifinal of Jay Nepal Cup Football Tournament being held at Manohara ground, Mulpani. Suntol defeated Kathmandu Metropolitan-9, 2-0.



The man-of-the-match adjudged Rupak Thapa and Sujan Thapa netted one goal each for Suntol.



In another match, A beat B 2-0 during the Indrayani derby. Niraj Shrestha and Ganesh Nagarkoti netted one apiece for Indrayani A. Suresh Thapa hit consolation for B team. Mulpani A will take on Danchi A and Suntol will play against Dachi A during semifinal matches on Thursday.


Dheke, Thapa win badminton title


The pair of Hari Dheke and Umesh Thapa lifted the title of First Simtex Ramailo Badminton on Wednesday.



Dheke and Thapa defeated the duo of Shiva Gyawali and Ram Chandra Aryal 21-15, 18-21, 22-20.



The winners bagged a purse of Rs 20,000 while the runners-up received Rs 10,000.



In the third place play-off, Krishna Adhikari teamed up with Raj Kumar Chhetri to beat the pair of Binod Thapa and Dipendra Regmi in two straight sets. Adhikari and Chhetri were awarded Rs 5,000.
