NEPALGUNJ, May 14: Thirteen people have lost their lives in Jajarkot because of not receiving timely treatment amidst a diarrhea epidemic that has gripped the district since last month.

The dead are locals of villages about 25 kilometers from the district headquarters.

The District Public Health Office said it sent medical teams with medicine four times to the affected area, but the epidemic has not come under control. The Office is hopeful of controlling the epidemic after it sent medicine and medical team by a chopper to the affected area Thursday.

The epidemic has affected residents of Rokayagaon, Sakala and Narakbada villages in Jajarkot. Locals say over 3,000 are suffering from diarrhea.
