Diarrhea and viral fever outbreak in Okharpauwa

KATHMANDU, June 16: At least 36 people of Okharapauwa VDC-4, Nuwakot were admitted at Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital (STIDH) in last two days after they were infected with diarrhea and viral fever.



Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has been disposing the waste produced from Kathmandu and Lalitpur in Okharpauwa VDC, situated on the outskirts of capital city.[break]



According Shankar Pandey, a senior health assistant at hospital, 10 serious patients have been brought to hospital Sunday morning itself.



Among the patients, two are minor children from Rai community, two from Bajgain and others from Ghimire community, the hospital informed.



“The infection might  have spread due to food poisoning as the most of the patients are from same family” Pandey added.



The hospital said that more patients have been coming to the hospital for the treatment.



Meanwhile, The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) of the Department of Health Services (DoHS) have deployed a team of doctors and health workers in the disease hit area. The health workers referred the diarrheal patients to the hospital when they become serious and extremely dehydrated.
