Dhurmus inspires locals to take up brooms for a cause

TIKAPUR, Aug 7: Comedian actor Sita Ram Kattel, popularly known as Dhurmus, has inspired people take up brooms to join the clean-up campaign of roads in Tikapur. The locals of the town were surprised when Kattel arrived to their neighborhood early in the morning with brooms.

He urged all the shopkeepers to join door-to-door cleanliness campaign along with him. 
Dhurmus, the cleanliness ambassador of the Government of Nepal, was seen in the morning with a broom in his hand informing “not to litter the streets.” Nobody cared in the beginning but as people came to know he is the comedian actor Dhurmus, everyone excitedly joined the fray.  Some shopkeepers promised to follow the cleanliness campaign in the future too.

Along with him, newly elected mayor of Tikapur, Tapendra Rawal, Deputy Mayor Kishori  Bista  and other representatives along with locals joined the campaign. Comedian actors Surbir Pandit (Dari Ba) and Palpasa Dangol (Chamsuri) also took part in the clean-up effort. 

Bank of Kathmandu organized the program as part of its corporate social responsibility. After the cleanliness campaign, they organized an entertainment program and street act in which Dhurmus urged all to pay attention to the cleanliness of the surroundings.

The campaign, which started from Aatariya of Kailali, will end after reaching Bardaghat of Nawalparasi, according to Ganesh Lamsal of the Lumbini branch of Bank of Kathmandu.
