Dhungel elected ANNFSU president

KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Madhav Dhungel has been elected president of All Nepal National Free Students´ Union (ANNFSU), the student wing of CPN-UML, in the student body´s national convention held this week in Janakpur.



Dhungel, who is backed by UML leader KP Oli, secured 955 votes while his rival Soviet Dhakal, who is close to UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, bagged 912 votes.



The panel led by Dhungel won a majority of the key posts in the student body´s central executive body.



Similarly, Kishor Bikram Malla has been elected general secretary, while Navaraj Poudel, Laxman Lamsal, Bhim Rai, Navina Lama and Sudhir Sah have been elected vice-chairpersons.



Rachana Khadka, Saroj Kumar Yadav and Bachan Bahadur Singh have been elected for the post of secretary whereas Deepak Gautam secured the post of treasurer.

Malla, Paudel, Rai and all the three secretaries are from Dhungel panel while Lamsal, Sah, Lama and Gautam are from Dhakal´s.



The convention elected a 201-member central committee. Of them, 45 are secretariat members.
