The meeting had adopted a 19-point commitment for attaining millennium goals of education in Dhaka in December 14, 2009.[break]
This was revealed in a report prepared by the National Campaign Nepal for Education and the Education Journalists Group, on Saturday.
The study has suggested to coordinate the civil society and stakeholders by reviewing the existing policies and programs.
Education Ministry Undersecretary Hari Lamsal admitted weakness on the part of Nepal for fulfilling the commitment, and called for integration of budget and works of the informal and other sectors.
He also said it is now certain that the goals will not be fulfilled by 2015 and urged for discussion on the strategies afterward.
Nepal National Teachers Organization Chairman Baburam Adhikari said the goals are a challenge for all, whereas another Under Secretary of the Ministry Narayan Krishna Shrestha said the suggestions should be transformed into action plan.
Former Secretary of Ministry, Dr. Ramsworup Sinha claimed that if the provisions of laws for free and compulsory education is implemented, most of the problems will be solved.
National Teachers Union General Secretary Chunnisharan Yadav said the government did not show inclusive character while making policies.
National Campaign Nepal for Education Chairman Dirgha Narayan Shrestha said they will on their part continually alert on the implementation of the commitment of the Dhaka Declaration.
