KATHMANDU, May 20: In the vote-count for a vacant seat in the National Assembly from Bagmati Province, Dr Khim Lal Devkota, the candidate of the opposition alliance [Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center) and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP)] is leading with a total of 128 votes.
Ram Bahadur Thapa, the candidate of the ruling CPN-UML has received only 103 votes so far.

Similarly, the candidate representing the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP), Krishna Bahadur Tamang has got only 2 votes so far.
According to the Election Commission (EC), the votes cast by the chiefs and deputy chiefs of the local units of Bagmati Province have been counted. Of the 233 votes from the local units, those received by Dr Devkota have a weightage of 2,304 while those received by Thapa have a weightage of 1,854
The counting is underway at the Hetauda-based Bhutan Devi Secondary School polling center.
