KATHMANDU, Aug 21: A writ petition filed by former Nepali Congress (NC) president Sher Bahadur Deuba seeking to halt the party’s 15th general convention has been kept for study and was not registered at the Supreme Court on Friday.
Deuba had submitted the petition through an authorised representative to the Supreme Court administration, amid the ongoing dispute over the legitimacy of the party’s special general convention.
Writ petition filed against Rabi Lamichhane
The Supreme Court administration confirmed that the petition had been submitted through Deuba’s representative on Friday and is being studied before taking further action.
According to the SC, no decision would be taken immediately due to the weekend holiday.
Former acting Nepali Congress president Purna Bahadur Khadka is also preparing to approach the Supreme Court on Monday with a separate writ petition seeking to halt the upcoming general convention announced by the establishment faction for October 2-5.
