KATHMANDU, Aug 3: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Wednesday said that he was optimistic of the constitution being widely-accepted as an agreement has been reached with the agitating Madhes-based parties.
Speaking at the parliament in course of proposing CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal as a new Prime Minister, Deuba said that a change in the government was a democratic process.
He was of the opinion that development projects presented by Dahal and outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli can be implemented only if there is peace and stability in the country.
He laid his claim that a change in the government was necessary to make the constitution widely-acceptable, provide relief to earthquake victims and take the peace process to a conclusion.
Presenting a saying that friends can be changed, but not neighbors, Deuba said that there was need to maintain a cordial relation with both India and China.
