PALPA, Feb 15: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said on Monday that his party is not in favor of pulling out of the current government and forming a new one.

He admitted that the NC is not fully satisfied with the government but the dissatisfaction has not reached to the extent of pulling out of it.

“We are not satisfied with the government. But the dissatisfaction has not reached the extent of dissolving the Madhav Nepal-led government and forming a new one,” he said while speaking at a function in Palpa. Deuba said that the NC would iron out the differences through talks with the UML leaders.

The former prime minister argued that his party is not interested in government change and neglect the ongoing peace process and constitution drafting.

He also dismissed media reports of Maoists proposing him for premiership. “They are all rumors. I have not received any formal offer in this regard. It is also not necessary to change the government,” he said.

Deuba also reiterated that the new constitution will be promulgated only after the dismantling of para-military structure of Young Communist League and completing the integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants.

He also accused the media of talking only about constitution and neglecting the peace. “Now talk about managing the combatants, ending YCL terror and creating a society free of terrorism,” he said, adding that the new constitution is a secondary thing. “First, people should survive. Maoists are still killing people and that should stop,” he said.
