KATHMANDU, Nov 22: The faction of the Nepali Congress (NC) led by Sher Bahadur Deuba has threatened to boycott the Central Committee (CC) meeting slated for Wednesday if held without resolving the intra-party tensions.

NC leaders from the Deuba faction Gopal Man Shrestha, Bimalendra Nidhi, Bal Krishna Khadka and Purna Bahadur Khadka, among others, met party President Sushil Koirala at the latter´s residence in Maharajganj Tuesday evening and urged him to postpone the meeting till the issue of Deuba´s resignation is settled. "We requested the president to first settle the disputed issues before holding any central commitee meeting," NC leader Khadka said.

The leaders had tried to meet Koirala in the morning, but could not due to the latter´s busy schedule.

The NC CC meeting slated for Wednesday is expected to discuss the issue of CA term extension. The CA term is expiring on November 30.

Intra-party disputes have erupted in the NC after the party president dissolved four sister wings of the party against Deuba´s wish.

Those sister wings were led by the leaders close to Deuba. He had even tendered his resignation to Koirala from the party central committee, but Koirala refused to accept it.

The faction is holding a meeting at Deuba´s residence in Budhanilakantha to chart out its course. "We will meet at Deuba´s residence to work out a strategy," said Gopal Man Shrestha.
