KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Former Prime Minister and the President of main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba has denied his involvement in making any decision on leasing the land of Nepal Trust. 

Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, Deuba objected to the white-paper released by the Trust on Tuesday claiming that the decision was taken by the cabinet led by him. 

"When the Nepal Trust Act was endorsed in 2007, it was defined as an autonomous organization. Therefore, the decision taken by the trust did not necessarily mean that it was taken during my tenure," argued Deuba insisting the decisions used to be taken at the level of bureaucracy. 

As stated by Deuba, alleging him for the decision taken then is inappropriate both from the political and legal point of view. 

He further went to say that the recent allegation against him is a deliberate attempt to divert the issue of the leaked audio conversation between erstwhile Information Minister Gokul Prasad Baskota and a local agent of a Swiss company over bargaining for Rs 700 million bribes.
