LAHAN, July 10: A person who was in police custody in Lahan Municipality for the possession of illegal drugs has escaped from the detention center on Saturday morning. According to Tapan Dahal, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), 34-year-old Pashupati Yadav of Navarajpur Rural Municipality-1 escaped after breaking the window of the detention cell.
Yadav had been in police custody for 37 days in the course of investigation. He was caught with 33 bottles of the contraband dailex-dc on June 3.

Yadav was kept in the passage of the detention cell along with other detainees. He made his escape after breaking the window on the west side of the cell without alerting the guards. After finding Yadav missing from the detention cell, the police have initiated a search for the escapee.
Two teams led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gyanendra Phuyal from polie office of Janakpurdham and Hira Pandey, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office have arrived in Lahan to investigate the incident. “We are currently investigating the incident. Strict action will be taken against those who are found guilty,” Pandey informed Republica. The security around the border has been tightened as well. The provincial police, district police of Siraha and Lahan police have been mobilized to find the escapee.
