Police registered victories in all four group matches and topped group A with eight points in its kitty. Police will meet departmental rival APF, the group B runner up, in the semifinal to be held on Friday. APF garnered four points and secured semifinal place with two victories from three group stage matches.
Gyanu Baba confirmed semifinal spot as group B winner maintaining the winning streak in all three matches. Tournament favorite Gyanu Baba is likely to meet one among Fishtail Higher Secondary School and Workers Martyrs Memorial Club (WMMC). WMMC has two points while Tops and Fishtail four points apiece.
On Thursday, Gyanu Baba thumped Armed Police Force 25-13, 25-16, 25-21 and Police eased past Tops 25-14, 25-10, 25-11 and enjoyed walkover from Kasi Sporting Club. In another match, APF send Eastern Railway of Kolkata crashing out with straight sets 25-18, 25-13, 25-21 victory. Likewise, Kasi also suffered straight set 25-7, 25-6, 25-11 defeat at the hands of WMMC.
Kashi of Lucknow, India, comparatively weaker than any other team, had arrived as replacement of Young Star Club of Bhutan. who according to organizer betrayed them at the last moment.
