The Department took a decision to this effect bearing in mind the Kathmandu Valley's air pollution becoming terrible day by day.

Before putting a ban on the operation of two decade old vehicles, the Department is to amend the Motor Vehicle and Transport Management Regulations- 2054 BS. Department's Director General Rup Narayan Bhattarai however admitted that the decision to remove two decade old vehicles from the Kathmandu Valley from February last year was yet be fully enforced.

But, this time the Department would emerge tougher in case of violation of the order.

However, this provision is not applicable for taxi and electric vehicles. Presently, there are around 5,500 two decade old vehicles across the country. RSS
