“This summer, we are selling an average of 1,800 units of face wash a day. We were selling about 1,500 units a day last summer,” said Antim Ranjit, branding manager of Bigmart at Kamalpokhari. Ranjit said face wash helps fight the harshness affected by the sun and some other outside pollutants which cause damage to skin.[break]
Officials of Bluebird Mart, Tripureshwar and Bhat-Bhateni Departmental Store also reported similar rise in the sale of face wash.
"Face wash helps clear away all the dust particles in our face. Similarly, it helps keep the skin smooth, fresh and supple," said Kushum Timilsina, sales in-charge of Olay at Blue Bird Complex. “The demand for Olay face wash is very high in the market.”
Priya Joshi, who was caught selecting face wash at Blue Bird Complex, said she uses face wash to keep her face smooth, clean and fresh. “It helps me look young and energetic,” she said, adding, “I use face wash during summer whereas in winter I prefer to clean my face with cleanser.”
Khusbu Thapa, a sales attendant at Bhat-Bhateni Departmental Store, said many people, who earlier used to wash their face with soaps, have started using face wash. “People have realized that soap contains harmful chemicals that make our face dry and may even cause wrinkle," she added.
A 100 grams pack of Olay face wash is available for Rs 330, while Nivea face wash of 100 gram costs Rs 180. Similarly, 100 gram packs of Garnier, Fairever and Pond are priced at Rs 216, Rs 205 and Rs 220 respectively. Himalaya (75ml) and Neem (150ml) cost Rs 112 and Rs 310 respectively.
