Delegates from 22 countries study Nepal's progress

KATHMANDU, July 18: Representatives from 22 countries including India, Japan, Britain, Korea and the Philippines, among others, took part in an interaction on progress in constitution making and peace process in Nepal.



A delegation of over 65 peace and social activists from 22 countries visited Nepal to study the progress in Nepal´s peace and constitution-making processes.



Nepal Family Party coordinated the visit and the interaction at the hall of constitutional committee in the parliament secretariat on Friday. On behalf of the political parties represented in the Constituent Assembly, CPN-UML lawmaker Ravindra Adhikari briefed the delegated on the progress achieved so far in constitution making. He requested support from the international community in Nepal´s efforts to successfully taking the peace process to a logical end and to write a constitution on time.



Head of delegates Chung Sik Yong, a social activist from South Korea, said the visit´s objective was to find ways on supporting Nepal in accomplishing the two major tasks. Former Indian Ambassador to Nepal KV Rajan said cooperation and collaboration among the Nepali political parties was the need of the hour to resolve the present political complications.



During the course of a five-day visit in Nepal, the international delegation called on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Saturday. They visited Speaker Subas Nembang on Friday and also observed parliamentary proceedings.
