Deep Jyoti clean sweeps Inter-school chess

KATHMANDU, June 10: Deep Jyoti School clean swept Inter-School Chess Competition on Tuesday as it took all top three positions. The tournament was organized by the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) to mark the Russia´s national day.



Nabin Jaiswal of Deep Jyoti secured the first position with six points and 27 progressive points in the six-round match while his elder brother Rupesh, with equal points, stood second on the basis of progressive points. Rupesh got 22 progressive points. Tara Ghale with 5.5 points and 24 progressive points finished third.



Shanta Thapa of Deep Jyoti and Bijaya Dangol of Annapurna finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Similarly Krishna Dev Chaudhary and Suraj Lohani of Greenland School, and Sagar KC, Ashwin Sapkota and Ashik Thapa of Deep Jyoti Higher Secondary School grabbed the sixth to tenth positions, respectively.



Director of RCSC Dr Vladimir V Novikov presented awards and certificates to the winners.
