KATHMANDU, Jan 13: The death toll in Chandragiri car accident has climbed to five after a six-year-old girl named Smarika Gautam succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at Vaoydha Hospitals. The fatal accident occurred at Panighat of Chandragiri municipality-4, Kathmandu this afternoon.


Gautam was rushed to Vayodha Hospitals where she died while undergoing treatment.

Those who died on the spot include Omkar Nidhi Tiwari, 76, and Kalpana Tiwari, 64, from Maitidevi and Dr Mahesh Kumar Gautam and four-year-old Priyance Gautam from Lazimpat, Kathmandu, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kumodh Dhungel.


The accident occurred after the vehicle with registration number Pra 3-01-23 Cha 6985 lost control and veered off the cliff and fell some 500 meters below the road while it was heading towards Chitlang from Kathmandu.
