Death toll from May 12 aftershock reaches 136

KATHMANDU, May 16: The number of people losing lives in the May 12 aftershock has reached 136 and the number of injured 2,956 as of 9:00 am on Saturday.

The Kathmandu Valley witnessed 11 casualties, while four died in the eastern region, 118 in the central region, and three in the western region of the country. The Kathmandu Valley itself had the highest number of injured people - 1,739.

Similarly, 121 were injured in the eastern region, 972 in the central region and 14 in the western region.

According to the Central Police News Room, 113 dead bodies have been handed to the concerned families. The people numbering 1698 are receiving treatment in different hospitals across the country.

Four persons have gone missing after the earthquake.

Number of structures receiving partial damage has reached 5,190 while 3,627 were completely damaged.
