KATHMANDU, June 19: Dairy farmers staged a protest demanding overdue payments for their milk.
On Wednesday, the agitating farmers picketed the central office of the Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) demanding immediate settlement of their outstanding dues. They have long been demanding payment from both the state-owned DDC and private sector dairies.
Police arrested 34 agitating farmers in order to disperse the agitating farmers. Farmers claimed that agreements made to address their demands including payment issues have not been implemented till date.
