Dairy farmers receive grant from rural municipality

TANAHU, July 25: The Bandipur rural municipality has provided a grant of one rupee per litre of milk to the dairy farmers. The farmers affiliated to the Dairy Producer Cooperatives Institute are eligible for the grant.

TANAHU, July 25: The Bandipur rural municipality has provided a grant of one rupee per litre of milk to the dairy farmers. The farmers affiliated to the Dairy Producer Cooperatives Institute are eligible for the grant.


The grant has been provided with the objective of making the rural municipality self-reliant in milk production. At a function held on Saturday, farmers affiliated to the Suryodaya Dairy Producer Cooperatives Institute in ward no. 1 of the municipality received the grant assistance in presence of rural municipality chair Purna Singh Thapa and other guests.

On the occasion, a total of 61 farmers affiliated to the cooperatives received the grant. A total of 162,000 rupees was distributed on the occasion, ward no.1 chair Bhanu Bhakta Pokharel said. The cooperative has been producing and selling around 700 litres of milk every day.


Likewise, farmers affiliated to the Yampa Fanta dairy producer cooperatives institute in ward no. 5 also received the grant support.


The grant assistance has encouraged dairy farmers to increase milk production. Farmers have received 5,000 to 36,000 rupees, according to chief of the rural municipality’s Livestock Department Madhu Bilas Neupane. 


Some 1.1 million rupees will be distributed as grant assistance to the dairy producers. Similar grant assistance will be provided to farmers involved in rearing livestock of meat production, said rural municipality chair Thapa.
