The occasion was to felicitate Apa Sherpa, who recently scaled the Mount Everest for the record 21st time. On his part, Appa announced that he would not attempt to climb Mt Everest anymore in the future. "I will devote my time in making the Mt Everest pollution-free," he said.[break]
While UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal termed the extension of Constituent Assembly for three months a litmus test for political parties to live up to people´s expectations, his son made no bones about taking the party flag and hoisting it at the world´s highest peak. The father-son duo was speaking at a program organized by the Sarbahara Kosh Nepal.
Talking to Republica, Prakash, whose official name is Sakar Dahal, said that climbing Mt Everest has been his dream since childhood. Prakash expressed confidence that his mission to be on top of the world will be a grand success. He said that his team has not yet started preparation for the mission but will start receiving mountaineering training from the coming season. Aang Tshiring Sherpa, former chairman of Nepal Mountaineering Association, promised to help Prakash, Dulal and KC in their mission to Mt Everest.
Dahal was as optimistic as his son. “We can blaze a new trail if we are able to utilize the next three months wisely," he said, adding that the country is rich in natural resources and if political parties acted with prudence, the country could be back to normal and prospering in no time.
The country will be ruined if political parties fail to forge a national consensus, he warned in the same breath.
The country has been saved from a catastrophe. Next three months will be a litmus test for all of us. It will determine the future of Nepali politics, Maoist Chairman Dahal said. The country will move on the right track if political parties are able to accomplish peace and constitution writing.
"Peace, prosperity, constitution and independence are possible if political parties agree on key issues," he remarked.
Son Prakash certainly has some tough days ahead undergoing the grueling preparations before he launches his mission to Mt Everest. The two comrades who would try their skills and stamina vis a vis Mt Everest as part of his mission are his security guard from the People´s Liberation Army (PLA) Yubaraj Dulal “Sharad” and Maoist Central Committee Member Krishna KC. Dulal was the commander of the Thankot attack in the war time.
Following the honor, Appa announced that he would not attempt to climb Mt Everest anymore in the future. "I will devote my time in making the Mt Everest pollution-free," he vowed.
