KATHMANDU, April 4: Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said on Monday that though the newly-formed People´s Volunteers has been established for construction, production and public security, it could be mobilized against reactionary forces if they try to derail the constitution-writing and peace process.

Dahal said so while laying foundation stone for a monument, a view-tower, at Dahachowk, Kathmandu, to be built by the People´s Volunteers in the memory of martyrs and those disappeared during the conflict period. [break]

In order to quell the fear among public over the mobilization of a new force, he said that PV will be expanded nation-wide for construction, renovation, production and public security.

"PV has been projected by media as a terror," he said and urged people and political parties to take it positively.

“The construction of a garden with a view-tower, a monument dedicated to the martyrs of peoples´ war and April 2006 movement, will show what the organization wants to do." Netra Bikram Chand, the chief of PV, urged to all the political parties and people to look at PV positively.

"Help us to change the face of the country. We´ll engage millions of youths and civilians in public service," Chand said.
