"It is time to renew the nation´s promise of a democratic and an inclusive constitution and a peaceful future for all. Therefore we would like to appeal to you for your continued support for the formation of a national unity government, which can fulfill that pledge and bring hope and optimism back to this nation," Dahal said while meeting members of the diplomatic community on Monday. Dahal and senior Maoists leaders met the diplomats at Hotel Annapurna to brief the party´s stance on current political impasse. Ambassadors from all foreign missions were present but the Indian ambassador had sent his deputy to the meeting.
"Let me reiterate again that we are fully committed to multi-party democratic competition, press freedom and rule of law. But we cannot be humiliated any further and pushed to the corner by the present government, which simply wants to indefinitely cling on to power and waste the taxpayers´ hard earned money on record high general expenditure," Dahal complained to the ambassadors.

At the meeting, the ambassadors had asked Dahal about the likely political course after the May 28 deadline and management of the Maoist combatants, according to Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara.
In reply, Dahal said that his party would be ready to extend the term of the Constituent Assembly only if the incumbent government steps down and the constitutional provision about forming majority government is amended to b bring a new provision for forming a government of consensus, said Mahara.
On combatants management, Dahal said the combatants would be brought under the command of the Special Committee for Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of the combatants in a month and the management of the former fighters would be completed within the renewed mandate of UNMIN by September 15.
