KATHMANDU, July 21: Maoist prime ministerial candidate Pushpa Kamal Dahal failed to get majority votes in the election for the prime minister. Out of the 597 members of the parliament present, only 242 voted for Dahal. Similarly, 114 members voted against Dahal while 236 members did not vote.
Similarly, Nepali Congress prime ministerial candidate Ram Chandra Poudel also could not garner majority in the voting. One hundred and twenty-four members of the parliament voted for Poudel, while 235 members voted against him.
