KATHMANDU, March 8: The Dahal-Nepal faction of the ‘Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’ has summoned its standing committee (SC) meeting for Monday.
According to Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the meeting is scheduled to be held at 11:00 AM today to discuss the latest political development after the Supreme Court’s verdict on the legitimacy of the name of Nepal Communist Party (NCP). The leaders of the faction have also consulted with the legal experts after the court’s verdict.
The apex court on Sunday scrapped the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) registered in the name of KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, giving the party to little-known Rishi Kattel who had registered Nepal Communist Party at the Election Commission much before the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) was registered in the names of Oli and Dahal in May 2018.
Issuing a verdict on Sunday, a joint bench of justices Kumar Regmi and Bam Kumar Shrestha ruled that the Nepal Comunist Party belonged to Kattel who had filed a writ petition claiming the name of the party.
