"The alliance was formed among like-minded parties sharing common values. Now, FDRA has decided to fight the elections in alliance," said Prem Bahadur Singh spokesperson of the FDRA.[break]
During Sunday´s meeting FDRA Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had made a briefing about the current political situation and the 11-point agreement reached among the four major political parties. Then Dahal proposed that the FDRA fight the upcoming election in alliance.
"We will go to the election with a common election program on behalf of the alliance," added Singh.
According to him, the meeting also decided to urge the government to fix the last week of June for holding the new elections.
Singh also said that Chairman Dahal also apologized with the FDRA parties for not involving them in the negotiations for formation of the CJ-led government.
"It was our mistake to not include the small parties in the talks on forming the CJ-led government. From now onward all small parties will be consulted in the decision-making process," Singh quoted Dahal as telling the meeting.
The fringe parties are unhappy with the decision of the big four -- UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) -- to form election government with sitting chief justice Khila Raj Regmi as head. Following the March 13 decision of the big 4 to form CJ-led government, the fringe parties had organized a meeting at New Baneshwar and termed the move as unconstitutional. Some of the fringe parties even joined the alliance led by Mohan Baidya´s CPN-Maoist to protest the move.
Sunday´s meeting also entrusted the FDRA secretariat to work out the alliance´s future programs. Singh informed that the meeting of the secretariat will be held at Dahal´s residence in Lazimpat on Tuesday morning.
