According to Maoist leaders, Dahal chose Helambu as a brief escape from the political heat post-May 28. The Dahals are currently staying at Everest Hotel, owned by one Norbu Lama, at Palchowk VDC, 108 km away from Kathmandu.
The family is scheduled to reach Sermathan on Monday and return via Timbu, the mouth of the Melamchi River. “The party chairman has arrived here for relaxing. There is no formal program in schedule,” said Maoist leader Sapkota. According to party sources, Sapkota, who is from Sindhupalchowk, had recommended Helambu for relaxing.
There are six vehicles in Dahal´s convoy. The family will spend the night at Thakani, which is 28 km from from Melamchi. A leader however said that Dahal came here to chart out the future strategy of the party.
“The government did not resign as per the [May 28] agreement and the party has decided to launch new struggle. So he will formulate party strategy,” he said.
