KATHMANDU, Mar 17: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the SAARC activities should be given right direction by mutually resolving the issues between India and Pakistan.

Speaking at the 'SAARC Business Leaders' Conclave' organized by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, and SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries in Kathmandu today, the former Prime Minister said India and Pakistan should troubleshoot the problem through bilateral efforts.

He also said that India, in the capacity of the largest country of SAARC region, should take more initiatives and should move ahead on the path to prosperity by making SAARC active.

Dahal claimed that Nepal, as the SAARC Chair, was making best possible efforts to reduce the misunderstanding between India and Pakistan and positive talks were held with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi during the latter's recent visit to Nepal.

Dahal further said that the entire SAARC region can proceed ahead on the path to economic prosperity provided that we have political willpower and leadership.

Urging to change the perspective of looking towards the South and China after some political changes in Nepal, the former PM said, "We are neither pro-Indian nor pro-Chinese. We are pro-Nepalis." RSS
