According to Dahal’s aide Chudamani Khadka, Chairman Dahal urged Sharma to resign from the post over the telephone conversation on Friday. “Chairman Dahal has asked Sharma to resign from the post following several complaints against her,” Khadka told Republica. Responding to Dahal, Sharma said that she would resign from the post being abided the party decision. [break]
Meanwhile, the Office bearers´ meeting of the UCPN (Maoist) held at Dahal´s residence, Lazimpat on Friday gave consent to the government to recall envoy Sharma. The party took a decision to this effect following intense pressure from the various quarters.
Sharma was dragged into the controversy after her blunt remarks on the BBC Sajha Sawal that “Qatar is an open jail”. Similarly. after a few months, Sharma dragged into the another controversy as she dispatched a letter to the Qatari government to deport Dipendra Bhetwal working in Qatar over an article written against her. The Amnesty International slammed over her remarks saying that the attempt was against freedom of right to expression and speech.
Erstwhile Baburam Bhattarai-led government had appointed Sharma as Nepal’s envoy to Qatar in 2012 as recommended by the UCPN (Maoist).
Sharma, a section officer at the Agricultural Development Bank, Chitwan branch, was appointed envoy to Qatar.
