The NRNs, who have assembled in Pokhara to celebrate the NRN Day, Monday said they are skeptic about investing in Nepal because of political disturbances. [break]
NRNs have so far made investment of about Rs 30 million in different trade and businesses ranging from telecommunication, to banks and financial institutions, education, health, hotel and tourism and hydro electricity, among others.
“We want to do something for the country. But the environment here is not favorable for investment. It is the responsibility of the government and the political parties to create investment friendly climate,” said Devman Hirachan, the president of NRN Association. “The country´s image at international arena is at stake because of lack of consensus among the parties.”
He further informed that NRNs are interested to invest is education and science and technology sectors. “We have vast experience in these fields and we want to utilize it in Nepal,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Ratan Kumar Jha, the general secretary of the association, said NRNs can bring more investment in the country if the government creates investment friendly environment.
Inaugurating the program, Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang said the NRNs have not been able to make huge investment in the country in the absence of political stability.
