KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) has called for a revision to the statute during the party’s National Conference scheduled for January 28-29 in Kathmandu. The party's Deputy General Secretary Jagannath Khatiwada said that a conference is going to be held at the party's national convention to discuss the draft document.
He said that the meeting will focus on the ideological approach and action plan for the upcoming congress of the party, as well as strengthening the party. The action plan will be made in the conference to establish the organization at the basic level across the country. The party has formed a three-member working group under the leadership of Vice Chairman Beduram Bhusal to prepare the draft of the legislation. Deputy Secretary General Khatiwada said that the conference will combine the balanced leadership and legal ambiguity of the provinces, regions and geography to assign the responsibilities of the leaders in the necessary places.
To distribute the work, duties and rights of party officials, the central committee will set criteria for party leadership based on age, tenure, contribution to organization building, etc. After the conference approves the draft, the party will hold a party convention in the first week of May next year. Khatiwada said that the meeting and agenda of the Samajwadi Front in the district will also be discussed in the conference in addition to carrying forward the party membership renewal and distribution campaign.
According to Kritu Bhandari, a member of the Central Publicity Department, the party's Kathmandu District Committee has collected the suggestions of the central members and committee members and commission members, as well as regional coordination committee, city committee local and federal people's representatives residing in Kathmandu for the amendment of the constitution.
