KATHMANDU, May 6: The CPN (Revolutionary Maoist) led by Mohan Baidya, which boycotted the second Constituent Assembly election declaring a general strike, is participating in the local level elections.

Although it is not contesting the election under the party's name, it is doing so in the name of the Patriotic People's Republican Front which it constituted under the leadership of one of its leaders, CP Gajurel.

The CPN (Revolutionary Maoist) has not been assigned the election symbol by the Election Commission as the party is not represented in the parliament. But the candidates contesting in the local level election would be vying for different local level offices as independents.

In a press release he issued today, party chairman Mohan Baidya said although the party has not taken part in the local level election, it has adopted the policy of supporting the Patriotic People's Republican Front Nepal. He has urged the workers, peasants, women, dalits, and the people of the indigenous nationalities, Madhesi, the backward region and intellectuals to vote the Front's candidates. RSS
