“The meeting will decide the party’s formal view on forming a new government until today evening,” CPN-UML Secretary Shankar Pokharel told reporters at the party office.
Second largest party Nepali Congress has proposed that CPN-UML head the new government while Pushpa Kamal Dahal, chairman of the largest party Unified CPN (Maoist), had earlier claimed that his party would lead the to-be-formed government.
Pokharel said that CPN-UML will give emphasis on a national consensus government.
After deciding on an official stance on government formation today, the central committee meeting will continue for couple of days more as it is scheduled to form the party’s politburo, expand its standing committee and form its central departments, which were dissolved prior to the party’s general convention.
