CPN-UML leader Chaulagain dies of COVID-19

KATHMANDU, May 12: An influential leader of the ruling CPN-UML Pashupati Chaulagain has died of COVID-19 on Tuesday evening.

KATHMANDU, May 12: An influential leader of the ruling CPN-UML, Pashupati Chaulagain, has died of COVID-19 on Tuesday evening. Also a politburo member of the UML, Chaulagain was elected as Bagmati Provincial Assembly member from Dolakha (B). 


An influential leader of the UML, Chaulagain was elected twice from Dolakha district as a member of federal parliament. He was elected as Bagmati in-charge of the UML during the party's last general convention.

Late Chaulagain was undergoing treatment at Manamohan Memorial Hospital after he tested positive for the virus. Chaulagain is considered a leader close to Madhav Kumar Nepal.


He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. Sources close to him said his family members are currently staying in isolation at their own home in Pepsikola, Kathmandu after they also tested positive for the virus.
