Unified Socialist’s reply to Nemwang - ‘We support Paudel for presidency; we value ethics’

KATHMANDU, March 2: CPN-UML presidential candidate Subash Chandra Nemwang has sought votes from CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal.

On Thursday, Nemwang, who is also a vice-chairman of the UML, met with Unified Socialist Chairman Nepal to seek support in the presidential election. Along with Nemwang, UML Vice-Chair Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Deputy General Secretary Prithvi Subba Gurung, Raghubir Mahaseth and Bimala Rai Poudyal also participated in the meeting.

From CPN (Unified Socialist), Chairman Nepal along with Vice Chair Pramesh Hamal, General Secretary Dr Beduram Bhusal, Deputy General Secretary Prakash Jwala and secretariat member Ramchandra Jha participated in the discussion.

As the presidential election draws near, Ramchandra Paudel, who has become a candidate from the Nepali Congress with the support of eight parties, and Nemwang of the UML are holding meetings to seek support for their candidacy. The Unified Socialist has already decided to support NC candidate Ramchandra Paudel for the presidency.  

Talking to media persons after the meeting, Deputy General Secretary of CPN (Unified Socialist) Jagannath Khatiwada said that the delegation of UML asked them to vote for the UML candidate in the presidential election.  

Khatiwada said that Unified Socialist Chairman Nepal thanked Nemwang for coming to ask for votes and left. He mentioned that his party is the proposer of Ramchandra Paudel in the presidential election and it is not likely that they will support any other candidate. 

Similarly, CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Prithvi Subba Gurung mentioned that they asked the Unified Socilaist leaders to vote for UML candidate Nemwang and the conversation was positive. He also said that it was agreed that the unity campaign between the two parties would be promoted.
