KATHMANDU, Sept 8: CPN (Maoist) on Sunday has condemned the raid into a legal consultancy firm run by senior advocate Shambhu Thapa.

Issuing a press statement CPN (Maoist) leader Dev Gurung took serious exception to the foray into the firm and expressed doubts whether  the action has been taken as revenge against Thapa for his cross-cutting remarks made during the meeting of the 33 parties the other day.

The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) on Friday had raided five service firms including a legal consultancy firm run by senior advocate Thapa, on suspicion of tax evasion.

A revenue squad dispatched from DRI had searched Legal Advisory Forum at Putalisadak promoted by Thapa, the Janachetana Law Firm at Dillibazaar owned by advocate Uddav Kumar KC, and Bim Engineering Consultancy at New Road, run by Mahesh Kumar Singh.

Thapa and KC have long been involved in legal practice while Singh´s firm has been providing collateral valuation services for banks.
