CPN (Maoist) leader Paswan quits party

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Central Committee member of the CPN (Maoist) Mahendra Paswan has said he has quit the party. He will formally announce his detachment from the party through a press meet at the Madesh Media Forum.



“I will not go anywhere after quitting the party. I am opening a new one," Paswan said taking to Republica, adding, “The name of the new party will be CPN-Maoist (Revolutionary).”

According to Paswan, the announcement of his new party will be made public at 3 pm today. [break]



He is considered a key player in terms of intra-Madhesh-party struggles and a strong supporter of CPN (Maoist) Chairman Mohan Baidya and Secretary Netra Bikram Chand.



The press conference to be held at 3 pm today will unravel the details of his detachment from the party.
