CPN-Maoist cadres stop NEA staff from going to study Trishuli 3B

NUWAKOT, March 21: The CPN-Maoist has returned a team of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) staff heading for studies on the site of the Trishuli 3 B hydropower project.



The Maoist workers returned them from Tupche VDC of Nuwakot including NEA employee Sitaram Thapa heading for the site.[break]



They returned them saying their demands should be met first. Maoist sister organizations Nuwakot Chief Narayan Nepal said they could go for work only after dialogue with the people.



Earlier also, the contractors had stalled the works after protest by the parties regarding the environmental impact assessment.



Earlier, the parties had urged to postpone the public hearing slated for today to hold only after necessary process.



Parties think the people´s say will be stopped after the conclusion of the public hearing.



UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML CPN-Maoist, Rastriya Janashakti Party, NWPP, and CPN-ML have been sticking to addressing locals´ demands by the project.
