COVID-19 national tally reaches 453 with nine new cases today

KATHMANDU, May 21: Nepal's COVID-19 tally jumped to 453 with nine new cases today, the Ministry of Health and Population said. 


At a regular press briefing, Bikash Devkota, the spokesperson for the ministry said that Jhapa district alone has witnessed eight COVID-19 cases today and one new case was detected in Rupandehi district. Devkota informed that of the total infected persons, 383 are males and 70 are females.

Likewise, four patients who earlier tested positive for the coronavirus were discharged after recovery from Teku-based National Public Health Laboratory earlier today. With this the number of discharged patients after recovery has climbed to 49, Devkota said. 


The spokesperson also confirmed that a 41-year-old male from Gulmi district died of coronavirus during treatment at Crimson Hospital in Rupandehi. With this, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the country has reached three.
